Celebrating the 77th Indonesian Independence Day, FLST Lecturers and Sumbawa Regional Institutions Hold Socialization and Raise the Indonesia Flag in the Sea of Moyo Island

The month of August is special, the 77th of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), it is also the 13th National Nature Conservation Day (Hari Konservasi Alam Nasional). RI’s Anniversary with the theme Recover Faster, Rise Stronger became a strong and booster slogan after the peak of COVID 19 in the midst of the current world crisis. We believe that Indonesia with all its biodiversity of biological resources is a strong, civilized and devoted nation to God, at this very happy moment, Sumbawa Region II Conservation Section, NTB KSDA Hall, Sumbawa Regency Fisheries Service, WCS West Nusa Tenggara, Sumbawa University of Technology ( UTS), Samawa University, Sumbawa Biodiversity, PT. Lombok Samudera Abadi (LSA), the NTB BKSDA Assisted Group (Bina Tanjung Pasir Sejahtera) and Pokmaswas Mutiara Hitam Prajak Hamlet.

This activity was carried out on August 16-17 2022, starting with conducting an Early Age Awareness Outreach Activities for Wild Plants and Animals, especially the Yellow Crested Cockatoo (Cacatua shulpurea occidentalis) at the One Roof School in Brangkua Hamlet, Labuhan Aji Village, Labuhan Badas District, Sumbawa Regency, with a total of 80 elementary and junior high school students, where the material was represented by the Sumbawa BKSD by Samsul Ibrahim S.Pi., and the UTS by Galih El Fikri, M.Ling., and Muhammad Haikal, M.Si. The activity took place enthusiastically followed by a coloring competition. The points that can be taken in this activity are to provide information repeatedly related to scientifically and empirically studied facts with several topics including introducing the biology of the yellow-crested cockatoo (Cacatua shulpurea occidentalis), ecology and habitat of the yellow-crested cockatoo (C. s. occidentalis), eating and food habits, scanty population information, to sanctions for the perpetrators of small yellow-crested cockatoos hunters. The entire material is packaged in the form of playing games that are tailored to the main target.

In the night, followed by the searing season related to the development of the Tanjung Pasir tourist area. This activity was guided by the Sumbawa BKSD by Samsul Ibrahim, S.Pi by involving several resource persons including LSA by Brillian Raudzaky, M.Si, Sumbawa Fisheries Service by Dani Auliah S.Pi and UTS by Muhammad Haikal, A. M.Si. There are several points that can be taken from this activity, including determining access points for crossing points, developing concepts to ground and echoing Tanjung Pasir tourist attractions through collaboration with various parties, opening up to everyone regarding the procurement of various activities that will be carried out. While the last point is taking action to protect the Tanjung Pasir waters environment with the main topic being coral reef transplantation and regulations/agreements on the management of cockatoo fish.

The culmination of the series of events was held on August 17, 2022 by conducting beach cleaning, transplanting coral reefs and raising the Red and White (Indonesian Flag) flag in the sea, all of which involved 36 participants. Meanwhile, the flag raising under the sea involved 15 divers from various backgrounds, one of which was from UTS represented by Muhammad Haikal A. M.Si.
