Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Welcome to the Faculty of Life Science and Technology, Sumbawa University of Technology (FLST UTS), Sumbawa Besar, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

FLST UTS is one of the leading faculties at UTS which is currently covered by four undergraduate study programs (S1), namely Biotechnology Study Program, Animal Husbandry Study Program, Fisheries Science Study Program and Natural Resources Conservation Study Program.

FLST UTS was opened at the same time as the operation of UTS in 2013, which at that time was called the Faculty of Technobiology and was sheltered by one study program, namely the Technobiology Study Program. Faculty of Technobiology is expected to be an important milestone in changing the progress of human resources (HR) in the context of preparation for maximum processing/industrialization of natural resources in the eastern part of Indonesia, which is known to be rich in natural resources but is still not being processed and utilized optimally.

FLST UTS is supported by competent educators in their fields who have S2 and S3 qualifications and are graduates of leading universities at home and abroad, as well as good collaboration with institutions from within and outside the country. With this support, since its inception, students of the Faculty of Technobiology have made many achievements from local to international levels, so that the Faculty of Technobiology has become one of the favorite faculties at UTS. Starting with 15 outstanding students from the first batch of Biotechnology Study Program, this number is increasing every year and the Faculty of Technobiology is also growing. The Animal Husbandry Study Program opened in 2020, followed by the Fisheries Science Study Program in 2021, and in 2022 it opened the Natural Resources Conservation Study Program. In 2022, the name of the Faculty of Technobiology was updated to Faculty of Life Science and Technology and the name of the Technobiology Study Program was changed to Biotechnology Study Program following the adjustment of the nomenclature of the study program name at the Directorate of Higher Education (Dikti) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbud-Ristek).

FLST UTS alumni have proven that they are able to compete and align themselves with alumni of well-known campuses in the country, as evidenced by the number of alumni scattered in big cities in Indonesia who have worked professionally according to their scientific fields in leading companies and institutions in Indonesia, and continue his education to leading campuses both at home and abroad with the help of prestigious scholarships such as LPDP, Fullbright, Erasmusmundus, NTB Scholarships, and other scholarship schemes.

In the future, with a new name, FITH with the composition of the four study programs at the beginning, is increasingly confident that it will be able to produce human resources that are globally competitive, who are able to answer the challenges of future human resource needs. FITH UTS is always committed and contributes to improving the quality of human resources through the implementation of quality education programs.

We are very proud and really appreciate the educators, education staff, students, alumni, and partners for all their roles and contributions in starting the joint struggle to run and develop the beloved institution FITH UTS. We invite prospective new students to join us at FITH UTS, together learning from regions in Eastern Indonesia that are exotic and have the potential to build a better civilization in welcoming Indonesia in the future.

Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh…
