History
The establishment of the Sumbawa University of Technology (UTS) began with the establishment of the Sumbawa Technical College of Technology (ST3S) on May 21, 2012, which is the first technical high school on Sumbawa Island. ST3S is under the auspices of the Dea Mas Foundation, with four study programs namely Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Informatics Engineering and Biology. The presence of ST3S is expected to be able to answer various problems related to the management of Natural Resources in Sumbawa Regency, in the form of minerals, agriculture, plantations and fisheries. Not long after the establishment of ST3S, the Dea Mas Foundation again initiated the formation of a new educational institution called the Sumbawa School of Economics (STIES). STIES was founded with the hope of being a solution to the high need for professionals in the field of management and business. At the beginning of its establishment, STIES planned to provide undergraduate education with two study programs, namely Accounting and Financial Management. However, in the process of applying for a permit to the Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI), the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (MENDIKBUD RI), the Dea Mas Foundation applied for a permit to establish ST3S and STIES simultaneously. Based on the advice from DIKTI, then ST3S and STIES were combined into a university, which was later named the Sumbawa University of Technology and plans to hold 11 (eleven) Study Programs, namely Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Informatics Engineering, Biotechnology, Agricultural Industrial Technology, Agricultural Product Technology, Accounting, Management, Development Economics, Communication Studies and Psychology.
