Fisheries Science students, Faculty of Life Sciences and Technology, Sumbawa University of Technology held an Aquatic Ecology and Limnology Fieldtrip. The Aquatic Ecology Fieldtrip was held on May 19 2023 and for the Limnology Fieldtrip it was held on May 28 2023, the location for the Aquatic Ecology Fieldtrip at PT Lombok Samudera Abadi with monitoring activities of coral reef and seagrass ecosystems in the coastal area of Mutiara Beach Pulau Kaung Village, Buer District, District Sumbawa. While the location of the Limnology Fieldtrip is in Marente Tourism Village, Alas District, Sumbawa Regency with endemic ichthyofauna data collection activities and water quality measurements. The implementation was led directly by Mr. Muh. Fahrudin, S.Pi., M.Sc as Deputy Dean and Lecturer of the FITH Fisheries Study Program accompanied by Fisheries Science students.
Aquatic Ecology Field Trip Activities at Pulau Kaung Village, Buer District, Sumbawa Regency Monitoring Coral Reefs (Coral) PT Lombok Samudera Abadi (Ornamental Coral Cultivation) Pulau Kaung Village, Sumbawa which includes the types and forms of coral growth using the underwater visual census method. Monitoring seagrass ecosystems in the coastal area of Mutiara Beach through a social ecological approach which includes students through a social approach conducting interviews with coastal communities regarding the ecology of seagrass ecosystems and carrying out monitoring activities such as identification of seagrass species and health using the Seagrass Watch monitoring method
Field Trip Limnology Activities Collection of Endemic Iktiofauna data and habitat characteristics as well as measurement of several water quality parameters as initial data in the preparation of water resource management in the River Area of Marente Tourism Village, Alas District, West Sumbawa Regency.
“This field trip activity can complement the theory given in lectures by students on campus and it is hoped that it will be richer in scientific information in the field of aquatic ecology and limnology and be able to manage aquatic and fisheries resources in a sustainable manner. Apart from that, how do students think they can develop fisheries and tourism itself. Pulau Kaung and Marente Villages also have to think about how to integrate fisheries and tourism,” said Mr. Fahrudin as Deputy Dean of FITH and Lecturer in the Fisheries Science Study Program.
