Carrying out community service is one of the obligations of all educational institutions to contribute directly to the community. Studies and research at the university level can be expressed in the form of studies and technology to the target community. The hope is that the existence of educational institutions such as the Faculty of Technobiology, University of Technology Sumbawa (FTB UTS) with its vision and mission through the tridharma of higher education will truly be felt by the community. Two main things of community service activities by FTB UTS are:
- As a concrete effort and agency responsibility to participate in the intellectual life of the nation.
- As a place to distribute various research findings / studies conducted by universities.
Community service is one of the main tasks and functions that must be carried out by lecturers, as functional staff in higher education. From the two important points above, community service must be placed in an important position and become a priority as well as learning and research activities. With this, FTB UTS encourages and facilitates lecturers to do community service. So far, there are a number of community service opportunities that can be utilized by lecturers, including PPM community service funded by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, UTS community service institutions, UTS TEMATIC KKN as other forms of collaboration with various stakeholders. To expand the opportunities for lecturers to carry out community service, FTB UTS offers opportunities for special community service activities for lecturers in the UTS environment, through internal funding budgets that are managed in their respective faculties.
This activity will become an annual routine agenda and needs to be continuously improved both in quantity and quality. In order to support the government in reducing the impact of COVID, the FTB UTS community service program adapts to conditions in the area, namely by making offline and online service regulations. This regulation is regulated by prioritizing existing COVID-19 prevention protocols. Offline this program focuses on mapping village potential, while online this program focuses on village promotion. There are three villages that are the targets of this SINERGI KKN program, namely Marente Village, Batu Bangka and Labuhan Jambu. This village was chosen because it has a representative potential for natural resources and the uniqueness of Sumbawa. In order to launch the SINERGI KKN program, FTB is supported by several faculties with different disciplines such as the Faculty of Communication Studies, the Faculty of Psychology and other faculties at UTS. The hope is that with cross-scientific, different villages can feel the benefits of this program.
