Two students from the University of Technology Sumbawa (UTS) won the “Writing Essay Pursuit of Dreams” competition organized by CIMB Niaga with the theme Dare to Innovate. Pursuit of Dreams is a social movement initiated by CIMB Niaga which aims to build the positive character of Indonesia’s young generation. Sanrina, a student of the 2020 Technobiology study program, came out as the main winner-Runner Up with an essay entitled “Initial Steps as the Highest Peak Race” and Erik Solikin, a student of Management Study Program 2020 as the 1st Favorite Winner with an essay entitled Knowledge Management System (KMS) as an Innovative Solution to Building Business Partnerships. The Chasing Dreams essay competition was held in the last half of last year, 30 November-19 December 2020.
Sanrina and Erik said that their initial motivation for participating in the Pursuit of Dreams writing competition was because they wanted to join one of the Student Activity Units (UKM) of KSM Elang Muda UTS, where one of the requirements was to take part in a writing competition. “As special students, we also want to be normal students, such as being actively involved in positive activities on campus. I myself took the theme of writing about entrepreneurship, because so far we know that most people in Indonesia in starting an entrepreneurial plan always have obstacles that hinder in business operations.
Seeing these obstacles or problems, it is a challenge for the author to provide innovative solutions that are solutive, namely the realization of better or positive social entrepreneurship in solving social problems for the benefit of the community,” said Sanrina.
UTS Chancellor Chairul Hudaya, Ph. D said, “I congratulate the winners. Keep on sharpening your writing and critical thinking skills. Tie knowledge with writing.” Chairul concluded.
